5 Tips For a Safe and Healthy Independence Day
It's July Fourth, which means you'll be having a lot of freedom, fireworks and food! Have fun and be safe with these tips.
1. Don't overdo it
Backyard barbecues can be a ton of fun, but don’t use your July Fourth celebration as an excuse to gorge yourself on food and drink. Enjoy yourself in moderation, but maybe don’t have that third sauce-covered helping of ribs.
2. Pass on the sugar
It’s going to be hot outside. Swap sugary sodas and alcoholic drinks for cool, refreshing water. You’ll consume fewer calories and keep yourself hydrated.
3. Remember your sunscreen
Any great July Fourth party will take place outside, so don’t forget to slather on some sunscreen before you go out. Whether you’re in a backyard or out on the lake, you’ll need some protection from the sun.
4. Handle with care
Fireworks are the best part about the Fourth. Odds are, you’ll make some of your own and watch a big display. If you set off your own fireworks, be sure to read the directions first. Stay away from anything that could easily catch fire, like buildings or trees. Never point Roman candles, bottle rockets or any other fireworks at another person.
5. Take some time off
Use your three-day weekend to take a break from your busy life. It’s good for you to spend time with your family and friends and de-stress a little. Don’t worry too much about party planning or visiting relatives. Take a little time for yourself.
