Arkansas Families First and Blue Yoga Nyla paired up to combine cognitive behavior therapy and yoga, providing a unique approach for children and teens suffering from anxiety, depression and stress.

Stacey Reynolds, owner of Blue Yoga Nyla, suffered from anxiety and depression as a child, a battle that later led her to yoga 20 years ago and only recently to teaching kids.

“Children started coming to me sharing how they had managed a stressful situation at home or at school with their breath,” she says. “It was such a simple concept, but even the little kindergarteners could see how it worked.”

Students learn anxiety management skills like breathing exercises, cognitive coping strategies and relaxing through activity.

Sessions take place on Thursday afternoons with a kid class for ages 7-12 and a teen class for ages 13-17. New students are welcome to join on the first Thursday of each month.
