No Bones About Broth
If it seems like every TV chef, blog post and fitness coach is talking about bone broth, well, that’s because they are.
One of the biggest nutrition trends in recent years has been homemade bone broth made from simmering leftover animal bones (most commonly cow, chicken, lamb and turkey bones) for hours. The process is meant to pull out nutrients from the bones like calcium, potassium and magnesium, even offering doses of natural collagen.
It’s not a new concept — your grandma probably had her own go-to recipe — but the obsession is recent with many drinking it straight to reap the benefits. There are even vegan “bone” broth recipes for the herbivores. And while critics aren’t so sure about it being the magical cure-all some believe it to be, there’s no denying it packs a nutritious punch.
